End of fossil fuels

TotalEnergies ist one of the 21 multinaoil and gas companies responsible for more than a third of global greenhouse gas emissions. It is also the leading refiner and distributor in Belgium. Moreover, a 2021 article provides evidence indicating that the company was aware of the impact of its activities on the climate as early as the 1970s.

The IPCC, just like theAIE, concludes that no new fossil fuel projects should see the light of day if we wish to maintain our climate objectives by 2050. Despite this, TotalEnergie is currently involved in 17 projects fossil fuel extraction that will generate more than a gigatonne of CO₂. These projects are called “climate bombs”.

Faced with this observation, we decided to take action against their destructive projects through the creation of the TotalementDown campaign. We focused on stopping TotalEnergies' sponsorship of public events such as the 20 km of Brussels (one of our greatest victories), but also and above all against the construction of the largest heated oil pipeline in the world, in Uganda and Tanzania, EACOP.
