Coexistence with sharks
The most misunderstood and feared animals on our planet, sharks have for decades suffered the image of Jaws, perceived as man-eaters and portrayed as such in the media, which contribute to maintaining and amplifying this phobia.
This image legitimizes their overfishing and makes their protection difficult to put in place.
Essential to the balance of our oceans and our ecosystems as a whole, sharks have existed for 450 million years.
Yet we have lost 70 to 90% of their populations in less than 50 years. Their disappearance would be a tragedy for biodiversity and for our survival. We must act before it is too late.
We join Coexistence to raise awareness about the protection of these species essential to our ecosystems, fight against the fin trade and change the image of sharks.
